What is a PDO Thread Lift?

A PDO thread lift is a minimally invasive procedure that uses dissolvable sutures (polydioxanone, or “PDO”) to gently lift sagging skin, improve jawline and cheek definition. They can also soften jowls, nasolabial folds, and marionette lines. The threads are placed under the skin with a fine needle or cannula, then carefully positioned to lift and support tissue. Over the following months, your body absorbs the threads while building new collagen in their place for long-term tightening.

Redefine your contour. Elevate your glow. No surgery needed

Frequently Asked Questions

PDO threads are ideal for patients who notice mild to moderate skin laxity (early jowls, drooping cheeks, or soft jawline and want a lifted, tighter look but do not want surgery. During your consultation, your provider will evaluate your skin, review your medical history, and recommend if PDO threads (alone or combined with fillers/other treatments) are right for you.

Most appointments take about an hour depending on the number and area of threads placed and include the following:

  1. Consultation & Mapping: We review your goals, take photos, and mark the thread placement pattern on your skin.

  2. Numbing: A topical numbing cream and/or local anesthetic is used to keep you comfortable.

  3. Thread Placement: Threads are inserted beneath the skin using a fine needle or cannula, then gently tightened to lift the tissue.

One of the perks of PDO threads is the minimal downtime, but some aftercare is still important:

  • Mild swelling, tenderness, or bruising is normal for a few days.

  • Avoid heavy exercise, saunas, and dental work for about 1–2 weeks (your provider will give specific guidance).

  • Limit exaggerated facial movements and avoid sleeping face-down while the threads settle.

The PDO threads themselves typically dissolve over 4–6 months but The collagen they stimulate can help maintain improved lift and firmness for 12–18 months, depending on your skin, lifestyle, and treatment plan. Many patients choose maintenance treatments every 12–18 months to keep their lifted, refreshed look.

Side effects are temporary and may include: pain, swelling, temporal asymmetry, transient rippling or dimple formation, transient haematoma or bruising, slight depression or skin irregularity. These inconveniences should disappear a few days after treatment.

We use topical numbing and local anesthetic to keep you comfortable. Most patients say they feel pressure or tugging, but not significant pain.

PRO Thread lifts start at $1800. Pricing varies depending on the number of threads and areas treated. During your consultation, your provider will give you a personalized quote based on your goals.
